Does Omicron affect on Movie Industry?
Everyone knows that theatres in many states have restrictions. Apart from night Curfew and restrictions, only 50% of occupancy is only allowed in theatres in most states. In some states, Maharashtra and Kerala where the risk of Covid and the new variant is high at those places theatres are running with only fifty per cent of occupancy. And the cinema halls in Delhi are completely closed. There is a talk that theatres in Karnataka will also impose restrictions soon because of increasing new cases. Tamil Nadu government is also taken a decision to run theatres with only fifty per cent of occupancy due to increasing Omicron cases in India
Tamil Nadu government issued new covid safety guidelines from 1st to 10th of January 2022. As a part of the new guidelines, only fifty per cent of occupancy is allowed in cinema halls. The government is thinking to impose more restrictions if the cases increase like this. The State governments are taking this decision by keeping in mind past experiences.

The RRR movie release was postponed because of all these situations. The official announcement has been made by the team regarding the RRR release being postponed. The announcement states that “In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We will promise you to bring back THE GLORY OF INDIAN CINEMA, and at the right time, WE WILL”. This was the post released by the RRR team regarding the RRR release being postponed.
The hashtag ‘Postpone‘ has become a national trending trend on Twitter, with posts claiming that the RRR movie release postponed to April. The clarity regarding the date is not yet confirmed.
